Yoga: ancient wisdom for the modern age
The ancient science of yoga is so much vaster than just the physical postures and exercises, and the Sri Sri Yoga programs provide one with the opportunity to explore this timeless wisdom.

Yoga does not necessarily mean that it is difficult, or only for a select few, or that one has to be fit and flexible to start on this journey. Practicing yoga in its true sense starts with listening to your body and knowing your own limitations – and respecting them. It is a journey of becoming your own best friend, and moving ahead joyfully, no matter what challenges life places in front of you.

Yoga in its true sense is about respecting the body, yet realizing that you are something more. It is about understanding and learning how to manage and transcend the mind, yet realizing that you are something more. So what is it that you really are? What is that part of you that is untouched, eternal, and ever pure? Realizing that, is yoga.

An introduction to Yoga: Sri Sri Yoga Level 1
Sri Sri Yoga celebrates the diversity in yoga in a simple and joyful manner. It combines the main essentials of yoga: breathing techniques, stretching, yoga postures, meditation, relaxation and yogic wisdom. By incorporating all these beautiful facets of yoga, one is able to look beyond the level of the physical body and sharpen one’s sensitivity and awareness of subtler levels of existence.

The Sri Sri Yoga Level 1 program is a 5-day yoga workshop, 2.5 hours a day, that introduces one to the ancient wisdom of yoga. This foundation program includes basic techniques of Asana, Pranayama and Meditation, and provides one with a beautiful practice that can be continued at home as well, to refresh and heal the body, and rejuvenate and calm the mind.

Daily practice of these exercises can often relieve one of many common problems like neck and back pain, stiffness, stress, concentration problems and disturbed sleep. The practical wisdom of yoga also gives one a broader perspective of life, allowing one to deal with challenges more skillfully.

Sri Sri Yoga Level 1 is thus a wonderful opportunity to start one’s journey on the path of yoga in a gentle yet profound, celebrative and joyful setting.

Exploring the depths of Yoga: Sri Sri Yoga Level 2
The Sri Sri Yoga Level 2 program is a 4-day residential yoga retreat that allows one to refresh the body and rejuvenate the mind. It contains powerful processes for detox of the body, as well as profound meditations and relaxation techniques to de-stress the mind. One also gets a chance to gain a deeper and very practical understanding of ancient scriptures on Yoga. After being introduced to the techniques of Asana, Pranayama and Meditation in the Sri Sri Yoga Level 1 program, the Level 2 program allows one to go deeper into the realm of yoga and to understand what it means to live like a yogi!

The ancient detox and cleansing techniques like Shankha Prakshalan and Neti help one to cleanse themselves on the physical, mental and emotional levels, allowing one to improve their health, peace of mind, and regain the joy and enthusiasm that we have all known as a child. The different Pranayamas taught also have their own unique benefits and effects on the body and mind.

Profound relaxation techniques like SSaHC and deep meditations do not only have a healing effect on our body and mind, but also allow one to connect with one’s Self, the pure consciousness that is our true nature. Subtle Strengthening and Healing Contractions (SSaHC) is a new, gentle and meditative muscle contraction exercise program for strengthening and toning muscles, restoring the balance and harmony at the physical and pranic levels, decreasing chronic pains, and above all for giving one a meditative experience of oneself.

Sri Sri Yoga Level 2 is  thus a wonderful opportunity to continue one’s journey on the path of yoga in a gentle yet profound, celebrative and joyful retreat setting.

Sharing the knowledge: Yoga Teacher Training
When you experience something beautiful, it is natural to want to share it with others. Sri Sri School of Yoga was founded to help sincere aspirants become real yoga teachers, and to bring authentic yoga education to the world. Sri Sri School of Yoga aims at providing comprehensive and multidimensional yoga training, teaching yoga in its purity of ancient tradition, yet with the technical skill and pragmatic scientific approach of the modern world. Guided by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the programs offered are deeply rooted in ancient yogic science, and give participants a unique experiential understanding of yoga in its purity.

The Sri Sri School of Yoga is founded by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, a global humanitarian and thought leader in yoga and meditation, who is fully established in the Self. Our school seeks to expand the world’s understanding of yoga through an education and training that are steeped in the vedic tradition – the original roots of yoga – and a long lineage of masters, while making yoga accessible and applicable for modern day use for people of all ages, abilities, cultures and religions.

Through a comprehensive and multi-dimensional science based education, our school’s programs teach about and integrate all paths of yoga including Hatha yoga (effort), Raja yoga (effortless, royal) Gyana yoga (wisdom), Karma yoga (service & action), Bhakti yoga (love & devotion) and more. The primary elements of our training are asanas (postures), pranayamas (breathing techniques), meditation and the experience and application of yoga beyond the yoga mat.

Program graduates undergo our rigorous training and are equipped with a deep and personal understanding and experience of yoga that enables them to bring these different dimensions of yoga to their students. The simplicity of Gurudev’s approach to yoga combines the fundamental principles of practice (sadhana), service (seva) and devotion (satsang) – this unique approach empowers individuals to thrive and society to blossom in human values.

Sri Sri School of Yoga is one of the first yoga institutes in the world to have been evaluated and certified under the Scheme for Certification of Yoga Schools, by Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India and managed by Quality Council of India.
